I want all of you naysayers to remember one thing, you're walking on my stage. No matter what you say, or think I will always own it.- Paul Travis I don't generally address naysayers, but I decided today I would. In my quest to having my art reach the world, which I began at an early age. I've faced critics of all kinds. Gratefully I have to say a lot of my public's reaction has been positive with the utmost support. In other circumstances, I've come across a handful of "haters" who swear they know me better than I know myself.
Some were family, old friends, people I never met, but they all have one thing in common. Their common denominator is they are spineless bullies who need to put their energy into something worth their time, not insulting mine. I knew from a young age what I was getting into, but what baffles my heart is their outrages ignorance to my career. It feels as if the press and paparazzi never want to leave. Digging every headline out just to be heard. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that. I want all of you naysayers to remember one thing, you're walking on my stage. No matter what you say, or think I will always own it. Don't ("") any word of my success such as, "Trying To Become Someone", "Celebrity" or "Author." I don't think I'm some A-list celebrity, but do know I have changed, helped and saved lives with my art. It's written in black and white on Google, blogs and on the charts that I have done an excellent job at rising to what I always KNEW I would achieve. I decided to share some good things and bad that the public has written about me. "My hero. You helped me through a difficult time." - That line right there shows my job has been done. "The next gay icon." - I'll wear that title proudly. "A power-hungry boy who seduces daddies to get what he wants." - a very homophobic remark on other terms wouldn't be said to just anyone. Don't indicate that the only way I can achieve success is by seducing men. "A superstar." - I believe we all are superstars. "A hypocrite." - I believe in what I stand for, and stand for what I believe in. No matter what you perceive otherwise. "Inspiring." - It's what I aim to do. "I'll out-diva you any day." - I laughed at this because I'm not in competition with anyone. "He is what we call a leading role." - I was humbly grateful for that. "No backbone." - To make it in this industry you need a strong backbone. The list of comments goes on. The majority of them beautiful. I love each and one of my fans equally. You can write your hate or whatever you feel needs to be heard, but before you do take a look into the mirror before reflecting your inner demons out on me. I am not here to fight, I am here to spread love. To all my wonderful fans you guys rock, and will forever be blessed with love. Speaking of how amazing my supporters are, a fan decided to make me a Wikipedia page. My team received a notice due to copyrights stating someone was trying to use certain material. I approved the request, and if all passes the editor, it will go live. So, thank you to whoever that was for believing my success was deserving. I LOVE you all and will always. You guys make my heart sing for joy. Comments are closed.
